Expression of Interest – Reference Group – CALD Communities Leading Prevention –

Project Introduction:

The Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities Leading Prevention is a two-year project delivered by Wellsprings for Women in three locations across Victoria including city of Greater Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia.

The aim of the project is to:

  • Address domestic and family violence issues identified within the CALD communities.
  • Successfully engage with key stakeholders and local CALD community to drive sustainable changes in community awareness, attitudes and behaviors that lead to or contribute to violence against women and their children.
  • Utilize a culturally relevant approach to ensure that activities are appropriate and targeted.
  • Promote existing support available within local CALD communities.

The opportunity:

As a reference group member you will be part of a diverse, vibrant and experienced CALD community leaders and representatives from different agencies. The group will support the planning, implementation and evaluation of the project. As a member of the project Reference Group you will be able to contribute to the community’s health and well being by promoting respectful relationships and prevention of domestic and family violence initiatives. Wellsprings for Women will ensure you have ongoing support, training and access to other opportunities within the CALD community services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide input and feedback to project planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Commitment to attend monthly meetings
  • Promote and advocate for the project activities within community circles.
  • Provide assistance in developing educational material for community awareness-raising sessions. 

Selection Criteria

  • Understanding of the issues in the CALD communities including domestic violence.
  • Knowledge around prevention of violence against women.
  • Have considerable work experience with CALD communities.
  • Have networks and linkages within the CALD community.
  • Ability to advocate for women’s rights and prevention of violence against women in the community.
  • Respect group diversity and different perspectives.
  • Commitment to participation in the Reference Group until the end of the project.
  • Self motivated and highly developed interpersonal skills.

Wellsprings for Women is searching for volunteer tutor in Sewing to run two classes a week on Thursday from 10 am till 12 pm and 1 pm to 3 pm.

Home Visitation Volunteers

Wellsprings for Women is recruiting volunteers for our Home Visitation program which is a service offered to isolated women in Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia.  Volunteers receive excellent training and on-going support. If this is something that appeals to you, please call Rose on: 9701 3740.
