This important milestone represents our formal and heartfelt commitment to walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, learning from their deep cultural wisdom, acknowledging the truth of our shared history, and actively working toward a reconciled future.
What Is a Reflect RAP?
The Reflect RAP is the first stage of Reconciliation Australia’s national framework. It is designed to help organisations like ours:
Build foundational relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
Develop cultural understanding
Reflect meaningfully on Australia’s true history and what reconciliation looks like in practice
This stage is about doing the groundwork: listening deeply, building trust, and ensuring we are ready to take respectful, sustained action
Why This Matters to Us
As a women-led, community-based organisation working with migrant and refugee women, Wellsprings has always stood for justice, dignity, and equality. Our journey toward reconciliation is a natural extension of these values.
Through this RAP, we acknowledge that:
Sovereignty was never ceded.
The colonisation of this continent brought deep and lasting harm to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Truth-telling and deep listening must be at the heart of our work as allies.
Our Commitments
Our Reflect RAP outlines actions across four key areas:
Relationships – Building strong and respectful connections with local Aboriginal communities
Respect – Increasing cultural awareness and embedding truth-telling in all aspects of our work
Opportunities – Creating meaningful participation and engagement
Governance – Embedding accountability and sustainability in our reconciliation efforts
